Woman forces husband to live outside of $1 million home for months

HOUSTON, TX — Neighbors in an upscale neighborhood in Houston, Texas say they're worried about a 69-year-old man camped outside his million-dollar home for months.

According to KHOU, Sharafat Khan has been living outside him home since March. His wife, a doctor, kicked him out of the house in March, left only with the clothes on his back.

Neighbors have been bringing him food, despite a sign his wife posted asking neighbors not to feed him.

"It just seems the man is elderly and it seems inhumane to leave him stranded out there," neighbor Laurel Stout told KHOU.

In the last six months, a series of arguments brought police to the home at least 30 times. This wife has asked police to remove her husband from the property, but since its owned by both of them, police cannot remove him.

Khan says he has diabetes and blood pressure problems. Neighbors and police say ambulance calls have taken him to the hospital.

One of the man's sons says his wife was fed up with the long history of verbal and physical abuse. Records also show that Khan was arrested for domestic violence in 2008 and his wife received a protective order in December 2014. She filed for divorce in June.
