The wife of a deployed soldier doing his second tour of duty in Afghanistan says she is waging her own conflict with a developer over construction problems in her new home in Powder Springs.
'We've only lived here 11 months. The warranty states it will cover grading problems. My house is sinking. This wall is bowed, that wall is bowed. I've called coporate. I've called everyone," Dorothy Webber said.
Webber said since she moved in last November, she noticed leaking from the kitchen ceiliing, cracks in the slab next to her home, and flooding in the back yard during heavy rains. She also said the lights flicker, which suggests a wiring problem.
"I don't have the money to hire an electrician, and it's supposed to be covered under warranty. My husband is gone. He's in Afganistan, and he's worked so hard to give us this house," Webber said.
Webber contacted her husband via video link at his base. He said he feels bad that he can't be home to support her.
"She's the hero. They continue to cut corners and are not doing it in a way that's professional and adquate. We're running into problems. It's like where are we going to be in a year? Are we going to have a house?" Sgt. Thomas Webber said.
Webber wife's said she has repeatedly contacted the developer, but the problems have not been addressed.
Channel 2's Tom Regan contacted Century Communities. A representative said the company will correct any problems under warranty and will pay for an independent inspector.
Dorothy Webber said she would welcome that action.

"Someone needs to take responsibility. It's not right," Dorothy Webber said.
