These are Georgia’s fastest growing cities, according to new U.S. Census report

The U.S. Census Bureau released a new population report this week and Georgia has at least five cities in its top 100 “Fastest-Growing Cities" list.

The data is based on 2010 and 2019 numbers as the bureau continues to collect 2020 census data.

The census looked at how cities and towns with populations over 10,000 changed from April 1, 2010 to July 1, 2019.

These are the top 15 cities in Georgia based on the percent change.

It’s not just these Georgia cities that saw big population increases.

The U.S. Census Bureau says it is seeing rapid growth across the South. The region has 10 of the top 15 fastest-growing large cities with 50,000 or more.

Meanwhile in Atlanta, the city officially surpassed the 500,000 mark, according to census data. The city had 506,811 residents as of July 2019.
