SNELLVILLE, Ga. — A 16-year-old charged as an adult held a woman at gunpoint for more than an hour outside a credit union before dawn, a detective testified at a preliminary hearing.

Gabriel Ginty is charged as an adult with three counts of rape, kidnapping, armed robbery and hijacking in an Aug. 24 attack at a Snellville ATM on Scenic Highway.
Police described the video and other evidence for the first time at a preliminary hearing. It came from the victim’s phone, which Ginty was carrying at his arrest.
Snellville Detective Jeff Manley testified the woman stopped to make a deposit at an ATM around 4:20 a.m. on her way to the airport. She called a friend to stay on the line when a masked man walked up behind her.
“He told the victim, ‘Looks like you’re stuck with me for a while,’” Manley said.

Manley said Ginty made her hang up, walked her behind the building at gunpoint and assaulted her there. He forced her to the ATM twice for $500 each, then drove off in her BMW around 5:30 a.m., leaving her in the parking lot with her dog.
License plate readers found the BMW within the hour.
“We had Flock hits in the area that showed that the vehicle was moving around,” Manley said.
Ginty ran into the woods when an officer tried to stop the BMW, then came back out and asked a stranger for a ride, Manley said.
Officers arrested him there with $1,000 in cash and the victim’s key fob in his pocket.
A judge allowed the case to move forward, but did not set a bond. Ginty was taken to the Rockdale Youth Detention Center.
