COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The State Board of Pardons and Paroles has denied clemency for death row inmate Stacey Humphreys.
His execution by lethal injection is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday. He would be the first person executed in the state this year.
Attorneys for Humphreys argued his childhood trauma should qualify him for a reduced sentence.
He was convicted in the 2003 murders of Cobb County real estate agents Cyndi Williams and Lori Brown.

Evidence presented at his trial showed that Humphreys forced the victims to strip naked and give him their bank PINs before he shot and killed them.
Prosecutors said Humphreys took their IDs and credit cards to withdraw thousands of dollars.
Humphreys left the state in a rental car and was later arrested in Wisconsin after a high-speed chase.
Police found a handgun that matched bullets found at the scene.
