GORDON COUNTY, Ga. — A northwest Georgia man is facing multiple felony charges after deputies say he was caught at the scene of an alleged child molestation involving a preschool-aged child.

Gordon County deputies were called to a home off Dews Pond Road in the Cash community Saturday afternoon after receiving a report that a child molestation had just occurred.

Investigators said the person who reported the incident told deputies they interrupted the alleged crime while it was happening.

When deputies arrived, they quickly located the suspect, identified as Ray Sum, 31, of Calhoun, and arrested him without incident.

The victim is a preschool-aged child, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sum has been charged with aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and child molestation. He remains in custody pending bond proceedings.

Detectives said the investigation remains ongoing.
