GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — At the Gwinnett County hub of Atlanta Peach Movers, they have a 3000 gallon tank. For this operation, what’s in it is worth its weight in gold.
“To us, it’s the hand we’re dealt. We just have to deal with it right now,” General Manager Tim Huff said.

Huff says he can’t control the price of diesel fuel. On Thursday according to AAA, the statewide average was $5.70 per gallon. Two dollars more per gallon in Georgia than a year ago.
This hauler has a fleet of 30 big trucks. Almost all of them run on it. Huff says so does all of America.

The trucking industry hauls groceries to your local supermarket. When the cost of diesel goes up, so can every item in the store.
Huff says the recent spike per gallon can be traced to the conflict in the Middle East, but he says the trucking industry has been dealing with this for years. For now, they’re holding the line on what they charge for a move.
“The cost of fuel has been increasing year over year,” Huff said. “Luckily we’ve been so busy this summer that we’ve been able to offset the cost and not pass it along to our customers.”
