Reward offered to help catch robbers who shot insurance agent

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY — Insurance agent Emmanuel Turkson is offering a reward for information about the person who shot him during an attempted armed robbery at his office in March.

Turkson and Fulton County police say there were three other witnesses, two clients who were inside the office at the time of the shooting and a suite mate who was in the building.

"At that point, I thought I'd come to the end of everything, but I'm a strong believer," Turkson said.

Turkson visited his insurance office on Old National Highway for the first time since he was shot.

"When I saw their covered faces and guns, that's when I realized these guys weren't up to any good," Turkson said, recalling the day he was shot.

Turkson says three men came into his small office around 5 p.m. as he was wrapping up business with two clients.

The masked men ignored his pleas, Turkson said.

"One (bullet) went through the wood as you can see right here, and one went through my calf through my leg, leaving the blood splash right here," Turkson told Channel 2's Nicole Carr.

Carr spoke with one of the client's daughters who witnessed the men running out of the building yelling about getting Turkson's wallet. Meanwhile her mother and the other client saw the shooting.

Turkson said his female client went to her vehicle trying to call 911, and the male client stayed with him. Turkson got help at the medical clinic next door.

Turkson said he regrets dealing with clients in cash, something he says happened because his clientele is often without bank accounts.

With few leads in the case, Turkson is taking action by offering a $1,500 reward.

Turkson is asking anyone with information about the people who shot him to contact Fulton County police.

Turkson says the men who shot him never found a bit of cash in the office.
