Commissioner Marvin Arrington, Jr. charged with battery

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Marvin Arrington Jr., the Fulton County Commissioner for district 5, was arrested and charged with battery.

The incident happened on Sept. 11. Arrington Jr. appeared in court Friday morning for the misdemeanor charge.

He is accused of grabbing and shoving his wife, according to Channel 2's Richard Elliot.

Arrington Jr.'s attorney says he thinks the charges will eventually be dropped.

“The warrant makes reference to bruising. The warrant says he grabbed her arm in a forceful manner and pushed her. I don’t believe the warrant is absolutely accurate in terms of what it alleges,” said attorney Keith Adams.

Arrington Jr.'s wife was in court during the hearing.

The judge granted Arrington Jr. a $2,000 bond. Jail officials say he is no longer in the building.
