ATLANTA — With the threat of wintry weather on Thursday, several school districts in north Georgia have decided to close for the day.
Dawson, Fannin, Habersham, Lumpkin, Rabun, Towns, White and Union schools announced they will also be closed Thursday.

A winter weather advisory for Dawson, Fannin, Gilmer, Habersham, Lumpkin, Pickens, Rabun, Towns, Union and White counties will last until 1 a.m. Friday.

Up to 3 inches of snow is possible in the parts under the advisory.
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: The winter weather advisory is now in effect for the north Georgia mountains -- we'll transition to a mix of rain and wet snow, then wet snow, in the higher elevations later today.
