Second metro Atlanta Chipotle restaurant fails inspection

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — For the second time in a month, a Chipotle Mexican Grill in metro Atlanta has failed a health inspection.

This time, the restaurant on North Druid Hills Road in DeKalb got a score of 60.

The restaurant posted their score inside the restaurants where customers could see it.

“I’m surprised. It seems like they run a good ship here. We’ve come there a lot of times. It’s good for the family,” Adam Franicois Watkins told Channel 2’s Carol Sbarge.

Violations in the Oct. 9 inspection include:

  • Observed employee wash hands with no soap
  • Observed raw chicken stored over uncovered cilantro in line cooler
  • Observed employee cook raw chicken breast to a temperature under the required 165 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Held potentially hazardous foods not maintained below 41 degrees Fahrenheit.

A statement from Chipotle said, “We have a solid track record with health departments around the country and work very hard to provide an excellent dining experience in every facet. An inspection like this is not at all in line with our high standards, and our team has taken the necessary steps to correct the issues found in the inspection.”

The other Chipotle that recently failed is on Duluth Highway in Gwinnett County. The restaurant has since corrected the problems and received an A upon reinspection.
