Search for man accused of shooting at Gwinnett officer

Gwinnett County police are searching for a man they say shot at an officer and then took off.

It happened at 3201 Sunrise Village Lane at the Ashford Jackson Creek Apartments just after 1 p.m. Monday.
Police say the officer was responding to a call about a robbery when he rolled up on the crime in progress and the man opened fire.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — "They challeneged him, drew their weapon on him and thats when the suspect fled inside one of the apartments here," Cpl. Michelle Pihera said.

A short time later the suspect came out a window of the apartment and fired another shot at police, officers said.

No one was hurt in the shooting.

Neighbors remained on edge Monday evening as police continued to comb their apartment complex and neighboring streets.
"You wake up and start to wonder is there anywhere you can go where you're safe?" neighbor Joy Allen told Channel 2's Berndt Petersen. "They don't have the person and we have to worry about him coming back over here."
