COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The final holiday shopping push is on with just a few days before Christmas. Several stores around metro Atlanta are extending their hours.
Some shoppers believe the later it gets, the more pleasant their Christmas shopping experience becomes.
"I come in here yesterday. I walked in, looked at the lines at the register and just wasn't gonna do it," shopper Mo Lewis said.
Lewis returned to the Kennesaw Toys 'R Us late Sunday night. He figured it wouldn't be as crowded, and he was wrong.
The final few days of the holiday shopping season are some of the busiest. That was certainly true at Atlanta's Ponce City market, where it was 'girls night out'.
"We all went to college together and each year we get together and have a little Christmas time and go shopping," shopper Mia Gilstrap said.
Back at Toys 'R Us, the Herrara family drove more than two hours to do their late night shopping.
"We live in Hayesville, North Carolina and there are really no stores there and no malls. So we've got to come this far to shop," Christian Herrera said.
Lewis is happy Toys 'R Us will be open until 2 a.m.
"Come back on Sunday night, or anytime when it's late and the parking lot doesn't look too bad. I can get in there and walk around, get what I need and get out," Lewis said.
All the shoppers we talked to say they always wait until the last few days to get it done.
