Pregnant woman jumps from third floor to escape fire

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A pregnant woman is telling her story after she had to jump from a third story apartment in a fire.

Bianca Hill told Channel 2's Matt Johnson the old third story apartment is one of 20 destroyed in a suspected arson that forced her to jump while nearly eight months pregnant.

Hill was asleep when the fire erupted two weeks ago and so were her 6 and 4-year-old daughters.

It was her mother who woke them all up when she saw flames at around 2 a.m.

"I didn't even notice nothing, I just got down and was like 'Get my children, get my children'," Hill said.

Her children and their grandmother jumped from the balcony into the arms of Paris Heard and his younger brother.

Then it was Hill's turn to jump and she says landed on the man on her stomach.

"My baby could have died in my stomach," Hill said. "That's a high hump for anybody to jump."

Doctors told her that her unborn son's heart rate had slowed down at one point, but it went back to normal.

Clayton County police believe a man set the fire at the Lake of Woods Apartments after being kicked out of a party in the building.

Hill says she lost all of her possessions in the fire and she's upset that someone could have taken away her family too.

"I think people need to think about other people or what they did to everybody's lives and destroyed all their property," Hill said. "It's just not right."
