ATLANTA — Police say they've arrested the man involved in a chase and officer-involved shooting early Friday morning.
Channel 2's Liz Artz was live on Channel 2 Action News This Morning when police confirmed the details of the incident.
Atlanta police say 40-year-old Jackie Harris used a Ford F-150 to try to back over several officers near Jonesboro Road and Moury Avenue around 5 a.m. They say he rammed into a yellow pole and gas line, then backed up twice, aiming at several police officers who were commanding him to get out of the vehicle.
Three officers shot at Harris, striking him in the upper body. The truck was riddled with bullet holes.
Artz spoke to the truck's owner, who said his truck was stolen while he worked July 28. He said his whole life was in the truck.
"Oh I had everything, I had my checkbook, savings, bills, keys to house, remote control … my gun," said Dana Thomas.
Police say Harris is stable at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Police say Harris faces multiple traffic charges and was wanted on a probation violation. It's unclear if he's the one who stole the truck but more charges could come with that, including aggravated assault.
