RIVERDALE, Ga. — Neighbors say a group of kids witnessed a home invasion and fatal shooting in Riverdale late Thursday night.
Throughout the night, Riverdale police investigators searched an upstairs apartment at the Brooks Crossing complex on Taylor Road after 25-year-old David Rucker was found shot inside. He later died.
Police said one or two people broke into the apartment through a second-floor window. Rucker told his wife and two children to hide while he investigated. Police said that's when he was shot in the chest.
Rucker's family was not injured.
Police said they have no motive for the crime and nothing was taken from the home. The gunman had on a ski mask, so they do not have a good description of him.
