DAWSON COUNTY, Ga. — Dawson County Sheriff officials confirmed that one person was killed in a plane crash Thursday.
Deputies said at 9:12 a.m. Friday, they received reports of a possible plane crash in Dawson Forest.

When officers with DCSO, Dawson County Emergency Services, Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Georgia State Patrol arrived, they located the plane’s crash site.
It is unclear where the specific crash site in Dawson Forest was.
According to the investigation, the plane left Cherokee County Airport in Canton Thursday and crashed in Dawson County around 8:17 p.m. Thursday.

Deputies said the plane was going to an out-of-state location.
Troopers said one man was killed in the crash.
The identity of the victim has not been released.

It is unclear what caused the plane to crash as well as if there were other people on the plane.
The National Transportation Safety Board is assisting in the investigation.
