SAVANNAH, Ga. — A Georgia animal rescue group says it recovered more than 20 dogs from a home that was in deplorable condition.
Renegade Paws Rescue out of Savannah said in a Facebook post Monday that the animals are now recovering after being removed from the home.
The rescue group said all of the dogs have received medical care and all but three of them have tested positive for heartworm.
“They were living in their own feces and filth. All were infested with fleas and ticks, and many will require serious medical care. Some will never be completely well again,” Renegade Paws said.
The group said the homeowners were breeding the dogs.
“They were breeding pugs, Boston terriers and bully breeds that were being sold. These animals suffered terribly, and their bodies are broken,” the rescue group said.
Renegade Paws said it hopes that some of the bigger dogs that were rescued will be up for adoption soon.
