A Peachtree City nonprofit that trains service dogs for veterans is getting a $25,000 investment to help continue its mission.

Healing 4 Heroes is one of two organizations receiving part of a $60,000 investment from Embrace Pet Insurance.
The company announced Thursday that $25,000 will go to Healing 4 Heroes to help veterans cover unexpected veterinary expenses for their service dogs, as well as adoption fees and medical care for rescue dogs entering the organization’s training program.
Based in Peachtree City, Healing 4 Heroes connects veterans and first responders with service dogs, including dogs rescued from shelters and trained to assist people living with physical and mental health challenges.
The investment comes weeks after one of the organization’s service dogs, Fifi, was killed by a Cobb County sheriff’s deputy while deputies were serving an arrest warrant.
Fifi was trained by Healing 4 Heroes to assist her owner, U.S. Army veteran Calvin Willis. Willis was not the person deputies were looking for and was not charged in connection with the incident.
Healing 4 Heroes has said it was raising money to help Willis get another service dog following Fifi’s death.
The new Embrace funding will establish the Embrace Veterinary Emergency Assistance Fund at Healing 4 Heroes. The organization says the money will help veterans deal with unexpected veterinary costs so financial emergencies don’t disrupt the relationship between veterans and their service dogs.
“Our partnership with Embrace represents more than financial support—it’s an investment in the lives of veterans and the service dog teams we serve every day,” said Healing 4 Heroes founder and CEO Piper Hill.
The remaining $35,000 of Embrace’s investment will go to Dogs Inc. to support its Alumni Support program, which provides continued training, resources and guidance to veteran-service dog teams after placement.
Healing 4 Heroes was founded by Hill to train rescue dogs as service animals for veterans. The nonprofit provides dogs and training to veterans at no charge.
