KENNESAW, Ga. — The City of Kennesaw officially opened its new public safety facility on Wednesday, consolidating the Kennesaw Police Department under one roof.

The 25,000-square-foot building at 3074 Moon Station Road brings all departmental personnel and resources into a single centralized headquarters.
The new facility replaces the police department’s previous arrangement of operating out of two separate sites, which included space inside City Hall and a former Cobb County fire station constructed in the 1950s that housed the Criminal Investigations Division.
Funding for the entire public safety facility project was provided through the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, known as SPLOST.

The 25,000-square-foot facility contains specialized operational spaces, including a real-time crime center intended to enhance technology capabilities and support collaboration with Cobb County police as well as other local, state and federal public safety partners.
Additional features inside the building include a community room for public meetings, a fitness center, a virtual training room for scenario-based exercises, a dedicated K-9 area, a crime lab and an armory.
Kennesaw Police Chief Bill Westenberger spoke at the ribbon-cutting ceremony about the impact of the new headquarters on departmental operations.
“This facility represents a significant investment in our police department and in the safety of our community,” Westenberger said. “It gives our officers and staff the tools, technology and workspace they need to continue providing the high level of service our residents expect. We are excited to officially open the doors and begin this next chapter for the Kennesaw Police Department.”
Kennesaw Mayor Derek Easterling also attended the ceremony and discussed the city’s investment in public safety infrastructure.
“The opening of this facility is an important milestone for Kennesaw,” Easterling said. “This project reflects the city’s commitment to providing our public safety professionals with the facilities and resources they need to serve our community today and for years to come.”
