BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — An investigation is underway into the death of a 4-year-old girl following a medical emergency at a Georgia home.

Bibb County deputies identified the child as Jayde Wooten, who died after an incident at a home in the 1200 block of Rocky Creek Road on Sept. 19.
The sheriff’s office said deputies were called to the home just before 2 p.m. and rendered aid until firefighters and paramedics arrived. Wooten was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
According to an incident report obtained by WGXA, deputies arrived to find family members performing CPR on the child in the driveway.
The report states Wooten’s father told investigators he had arrived at the home and could not find his daughter. After searching the house and asking neighbors if they had seen her, he heard the child’s mother scream and ran back inside.

According to the report, he found the 4-year-old upside down inside a large trash can filled with water and fish in a bathroom. He removed her from the container and carried her outside for help.
WGXA reported that neighbors assisted with CPR until first responders arrived. One neighbor told deputies the child briefly opened her eyes during lifesaving efforts before becoming unresponsive again, according to the incident report.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been created to help Wooten’s parents with funeral expenses and other costs as they grieve the loss of their daughter.
“No parent should ever have to face this kind of pain,” the fundraiser states. “Every donation, no matter the amount, will mean so much to this family as they navigate the days ahead.”
