GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - A Gwinnett County judge sentenced a man to life plus 50 years for planning a home invasion that killed a father and wounded his girlfriend and daughter.
"I truly am sorry that my decisions in my life have brought me to this position," Brian Brewner said.
Prosecutors say Brewner, 29, had a much different tone when he spoke on a jailhouse phone just days before his sentencing.
They said he laughted about joining the Aryian Nation, a white supremacist prison gang.
"It don't matter. What, are they going to give me more time?" Brewner said
Brewner was not involved in the actual shooting, but helped plan the robbery that killed Adam Schrier.
Schrier's family spoke about their pain and forgiveness.
"I am angry. I struggle every day with being able to forgive you and the other involved," Shrier's sister Angie Ward said.
Prosecutors believe Brewner has said and done enough.
"Man forgives, God forgives, but the state of Georgia does not," prosecutor Nigel Lush said.
