COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Cobb County man was arrested for pointing a toy gun at passing drivers Monday morning from the side walk on Powder Springs Road at Windey Hill Road.
Sharla Goins said she drives Powder Springs Road in Cobb County each workday, but her commute took an unexpected turn while she was stopped in traffic.
Goins saw a man on the sidewalk pointing a toy gun at her. She says at the time the gun looked real and the thought she was dead.
"He was abotu 10 feet away from my car and had what appeared to be an automatic weapon in his hand and pointed it directly at me," Goins said.
Several drivers, including Goins, called 911.
"And the closer he got I could tell it had the orange tip on it and was probably a toy gun," Goins said.
Alicia Chilton with the Cobb County police said officers responding to the area found Dashon Kelly, 30.
Kelly told police he hadn't slept the night before and was taking a walk.
Kelly is charged with reckless conduct.
