LOOK: World Cup 2026 logo unveiled for Atlanta

ATLANTA — The FIFA World Cup 2026 hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada may be over 1,100 days away, but all host cities unveiled the official logos on Thursday.

Atlanta is one of the 16 host cities for the tournament. Channel 2′s Alison Mastrangelo spoke with Dan Corso, president of the Atlanta Sports Council, about what the logo rollout means to him.

“Truly, it’s going to be the biggest sporting event ever held. For Atlanta to be a part of that mix, it’s a great honor. The fact we are able to launch the look, feel and image of Atlanta hosting creates a great sense of excitement, spirit and a tangible thing for people to embrace,” Corso said.

Thursday’s city logos follows Wednesday’s unveiling of the official tournament logo and the slogan “WE ARE 26.”

For Atlanta’s logo, the host committee says it was inspired by the city’s growth, diversity, its tree forests, history of rising from the ashes, hip-hop community and Native American heritage. For the color scheme, it uses a mix of “Iris Blue, Aquamarine, Rich Red, Deep Lilac and Persian Red.”

Corso said FIFA worked with the host cities for the designs for the past 30-45 days.

“I love the progressiveness of it. It’s vibrant, young, energetic kind of feel. I think it ties well to Atlanta. At the end of the day, the logo is a starting point,” Corso said. “It’s just the first milestone.”

Corso told Mastrangelo that the schedule for World Cup should be released later this year. He expects merchandise with the logo will become available at that time.
