“I was sitting on the sofa, and I heard a crash, boom. Dry wall was coming down on me, so I covered my face. It was all around me. There was a beam, where if the chair had not thrown me back, the beam would have been through my body,” said the homeowner.

She said she was able to call 911 while she was trapped under the debris.

“The fire department came so fast, and they had me crawl out of the debris. And I’m not small. They’re picking me off the ground and bringing me out the door,” said the homeowner.

Firefighters, police and paramedics arrived at the home within 10 minutes.

“They made entry through the front door, made it to her, where they were able to get her out fairly quickly. She was complaining about some bumps and bruises. We got her evaluated right away,” said Barrow County Fire Department Capt. John Rivers.

“I wake up in the morning thinking about how it could have been much worse. And praise God and thank God for that,” the homeowner said.
