Delta flight returns to Atlanta amid engine trouble

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Delta flight from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport returned to Raleigh, North Carolina, returned to Atlanta airport Thursday night amid engine trouble, the airline said.

Flight 1518 experienced problems with the right engine after takeoff.

“The flight landed safely and customers are being reaccommodated on another aircraft,” a Delta representative said in a statement to Channel 2 Action News. “Nothing is more important than the safety of our people and customers. We apologize to our customers for this disruption in their travels.”

The aircraft, a Boeing 737-900, is being removed from service.

The flight had 173 customers, two pilots and four flight attendants.
