ATLANTA — Hundreds of people lined up Wednesday morning to get a job at a new attraction coming to Centennial Olympic Park.
Applicants hope to get a job at Skyview Atlanta, the company bringing a Ferris wheel scheduled to open July 2 at Centennial Olympic Park. The ride will be set up near the Tabernacle entertainment venue on Luckie Street.
The job fair started at 11 a.m. at the Omni Hotel. Channel 2’s John Bachman saw the line of applicants wrapped around the building hours before the fair began. Skyview is looking for greeters, loaders, concession and maintenance workers.
Be-Ana Watkins woke up bright and early to get a spot in line.
”We got here at 7 in the morning. We were all the way back there,” said Watkins.
"These are jobs that will pay between $9 and $13 an hour," said Skyview spokesman Jason Evans.
"That's decent for me. I'm a college student. So, any bit of money is good for me right now," said applicant Christopher Henderson.
There are only 50 openings, but Evans said they’ve had about 500 people come through the fair. Everyone went inside and filled out applications while waiting for an interview.
Tehquin Lee said he's hoping for good results.
“The struggle is real. Man, I need a job – plain and simple,” Lee said.
Skyview representatives will notify applicants if they get the job by June 12.
