Here’s the most common language spoken in Georgia besides English and Spanish

ATLANTA — In a new report, Business Insider mapped out which languages are most commonly spoken in households in each state, besides English and Spanish.

While Western states like Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and Idaho all were likely to have German speakers, places like Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas are home to a large population of households that speak Vietnamese.

Across the Southeast, there are a number of languages represented.

Here in Georgia, Korean is the most common language spoken at home, besides English and Spanish.

Most common non-English, non-Spanish language spoken in some states across the South:

Alabama: Korean

Arkansas: Chinese

Florida: Haitian Creole

Georgia: Korean

Louisiana: French

Mississippi: Vietnamese

North Carolina: French

South Carolina: German

Tennessee: Arabic

To compile the report, Business Insider analyzed data from the 2017 American Community Survey, which was published by the Integrated Public Use Microdata Series.

The community survey asks mote than 1 million Americans questions annually, including what language they speak at home.

An analysis of that data found that English is the most common language in states across the country and Spanish is the second-most prevalent language in 46 states and Washington, D.C.

German is the most common non-English, non-Spanish language spoken in the United States, with more than 905,000 speakers across the country, according to the report.
