Duluth police set up safe meeting spot for selling your stuff

DULUTH, Ga. — If you’re looking to buy or sell something off of the internet from someone you’ve never met, but don’t feel comfortable letting them into your home, Duluth police are looking to make the process safer.

Police have established a portion of the parking lot outside their headquarters at 3276 Buford Highway as a “Meetup Spot.”

They say this area, which is marked by a sign, is monitored by video surveillance 24/7 to help keep everyone involved in the transaction safe.

Police also say that you can come inside and use the lobby of the police headquarters to make your transaction as safe as possible.

If that still doesn’t seem like enough and you feel unsafe, you can call the police department and they will have an officer standby at the station.

The sign and establishment of the “Meetup Spot” is in partnership with OfferUp, an online service that connects local buyers and sellers.
