Berkmar High students Hussain Fahad, Brian Nguyen, and a third student, who wishes to not be identified, were on their way home after they just finished their AP exams.

According to the school district, moments later, in the middle of Pleasant Hill Road, the tenth graders saw a woman going through what appeared to be a medical emergency.

The students immediately jumped into action, weaving into traffic, to help the woman up and onto the sidewalk, before reportedly carrying her back to the school.

The students then called 911 while carrying her back to Berkmar High, the district said.

Gwinnett County first responders treated the woman at the school before reportedly rushing her to the hospital.

The students shared their disappointment about the drivers who did not stop to help the woman.

“I felt like the man in the Camaro was going to run her over,” Fahad said. “He kept honking at her, telling her to move.”

Nguyen said he was shocked and disappointed by the behavior of passing motorists.

“We couldn’t believe it; the cars were just honking at her, and no one was helping her. You should always help people in distress.”

Dr. Durrant Williams, Principal at Berkmar High School said if the students had not rushed to help the woman, she made not have made it.

“I am so proud of all three of these young people,” Dr. Williams explains. “The heroics they displayed on this day, saving the life of a Berkmar community member, should be shared all over the world. It’s the actions of students like Hussain, Brian, and their classmate that remind us of all the good in this world!”
