AUGUSTA, Ga. — The grandmother of a pair of conjoined twins born in Augusta this week spoke about the boys for the first time Wednesday.
Bernice Crafton’s grandsons, Chance and Chandler, were born on Monday. The two share a heart and a liver.
“We just thank God for all of this, because it is His purpose and His will,” Crafton said.
The boys, who were delivered by C-section, are in critical condition at Children's Hospital of Georgia. Their mother Brittany is in good condition and, Crafton says, good spirits.
“She’s spending a lot of time with the babies and enjoying that process of motherhood. She has been amazing," Crafton said.
Conjoined twins occur only about once in every 60,000 births.
