BURKE COUNTY, Ga. — A Georgia man has been indicted on a murder charge in the disappearance of a South Carolina mother after her bloodied car was found.
A jury indicted Emanuel Bedford, who is from Burke County in east Georgia, on murder and kidnapping charges Thursday, according to WSOC.

Deidre Reid, 41, was reported missing from Pageland, S.C. on Sept. 3, 2021. Her family spoke to her that day as she was headed to the Greyhound station in Charlotte with Bedford. Family members told WRDW that Reid was taking Bedford to the bus station, but that he never got on the bus.
Reid was the mother of Bedford’s youngest child.

According to the indictment, Reid’s car was found in Aiken County on Sept. 5. The car was partially submerged in a pond and had blood on the passenger seat . The car was located about 11 miles from Bedford’s home.
Pieces of the car’s bumper were found on Bedford’s family land in Burke County, which is near Augusta.

Reid’s family handed out flyers in Augusta about her disappearance.
Bedford was taken into custody by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 11 before being extradited back to Pageland. He was initially listed as a person of interest in the case.
