GBI looking for gunman who killed a Lake City father

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A mother is marking the anniversary of her son's burial by speaking out for the first time, exclusively to Channel 2 Action News.

Kadarius Bailey was shot to death in 2014 and investigators are still looking for his killer.

Gwendolyn Bailey has carried the burden of her son's murder since he was shot to death two years ago.

Now, she just wants answers in this cold case.

Kamira, 5, is always asking her mother about the father she barely knew.

"She'll just say certain things, like she don't understand or it's not fair that she don't have a daddy,” wife Kalasia Jordan said.

Kadarius Bailey died two years ago when police say someone shot and killed him in Lake City.

Police say he was at an outside stairwell at an apartment building next to Clayton State University when someone opened fire.

Bailey was known as KD and left behind three children, including two little girls he had with Jordan.

His family buried him exactly two years ago, but his children are learning through family members how infectious his smile was.

“He was the party person, have everyone laughing. We loved to see him dance and sing,” Gwendolyn Bailey said.

Bailey's family members say they have grieved for two years now and they're calling for the killer to bring them some closure.

"Please. Turn yourself in,” Gwendolyn Bailey said.

Until they find justice, they say they will try to find the strength to be there for the ones who need it the most.

"It's just hard because I miss him, but these two are always a reminder of him,” Gwendolyn Bailey said.
