FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Members of a Forsyth County family already struggling with the loss of their home in a fire say someone stole donations that the community left for them.
When homeowner Robert Johnson came back to his family's house that burned down, he thinks of everything they lost: “Family mementos, blankets that were made for my grandma, for my kids when they were born."
He still doesn't know what caused the massive fire that NewsChopper2 flew over 10 days ago, but what he really doesn't understand, he says, is why people have been looting his property since the fire.
“I pray for them, I really do, because I can’t even imagine how bad off you are in your life to be able to do that,” Johnson said.
No one from his family of six was at the home on Wallace Tatum Road when the fire broke out at night.

Since then, Johnson says the community has stepped up.
“I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the day of the fire it was just amazing so many people that showed up to help,” Johnson said.
As they left donations on the property, he says, they were gone before he could pick them up.
He says he's thinking about how his family will move on more than anything but he says he didn't think anyone could stoop this low.
“When somebody loses everything that they’ve got and you can still show up and take what’s left from them, that’s really just a testament to how bad your life is,” Johnson said.
