Camper at metro Atlanta summer camp tests positive for COVID-19

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — A camper at a Forsyth County summer camp has tested positive for COVID-19, the county said in a statement Tuesday.

The camper was attending one of the summer camps at Sawnee Mountain Preserve when they received the positive test. The test was a prerequisite for another camp they were planning to attend next week.

The county says the camper was asymptomatic. All campers and staff members that came in contact with them have been notified.

The county says it is working with the public health department on contact tracing, additional testing or any self-quarantines that may need to take place.

The facility was disinfected using a hospital-grade system, according to the fire department.

The county is continuing to monitor the situation.
