Two children injured in multi-car crash on I-285

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A 12-year-old was killed and another child is in the hospital after a six-car crash in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 285 near Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

Police have identified the girl as Allison Beasley, 12. Beasley passed away at a local hospital.

Police say  two other people were injured in the crash.

DeKalb County Officer Gene Callaway got emotional when he spoke to Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes about the injured children.

"Be thankful for your family (and) drive safe," Callaway said.

A Channel 2 Action News viewer photo shows an officer holding a child that was involved in the crash.

Police want all drivers to pay attention to the road during the holiday.

"(Interstate) 285 is the most dangerous highway in the country, and that's why you have to be careful out there," Callaway said.
