ATLANTA — The National Football League community has received news that it has been waiting days to hear: Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is awake and talking on his own.
Hamlin went into cardiac arrest Monday night after what looked like a routine hit on Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. He has been in the hospital ever since but has made significant improvements each day, according to the Bills.
All 32 teams across the league will honor Hamlin during the final week of the regular season. The NFL said there will be a pregame moment of support for Hamlin, first responders and his medical staff.

The league also approved teams outlining the No. 3, Hamlin’s jersey number, on the 30-yard line in Buffalo colors.
The Falcons did that Thursday night and shared a photo on social media.
