Ex-Gwinnett teacher accused of inappropriate relationship with student

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A former teacher with Gwinnett County Schools is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Tom Grimshaw had been with the district since August 2006. He was a math teacher at Mountain View High School until he resigned Monday.

Grimshaw is facing sexual assault charges, according to a Gwinnett County School police report. It said he was taken into custody at the county Sheriff's Office on Wednesday. The details of the allegations are unclear.

The district has reported the case to the Division of Family and Children Services and to the Professional Standards Commission, GCS spokeswoman Sloan Roach said.
