DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — The father of a man whose dismembered body was found in a reservoir says he learned a lot about what happened to his son during a court hearing on Monday.
But he told Channel 2’s Tom Jones that he still has many questions.
Charles Parker was in a Douglas County courtroom when prosecutors detailed how his son, Jamal Parker, was killed. Some of what he heard was disturbing. So disturbing, he said it’s affecting him mentally.
“I need to have this over with. It’s wearing me down,” he told Jones.
Parker said it didn’t help when prosecutors said the coroner believes the younger Parker was still alive when his killers did something horrible to him. “She indicated that the victim’s head could have been decapitated while he was still alive,” Assistant District Attorney Nelly Ndounteng told the court.
Parker says that means his son suffered in his last moments alive.
“That was something I was hoping didn’t happen,” Parker said.

Channel 2 Action News was in court for a bond hearing for two of Parker’s alleged killers: David Barber and Parker’s girlfriend, Ambria Boyd.
Mac Pilgrim, Barber’s attorney, told the judge there is no evidence he killed anyone.
“I would ask for a $25,000 bond,” he said.
Michael Sterling, Boyd’s attorney, said she would not be a danger to the community and was not a flight risk. So, he asked that she be placed on house arrest or something like an ankle monitor.
Douglas County Superior Court Judge Cynthia Adams wasn’t having it.
“The court is going to deny bond in this case,” Adams said,
Adams said she denied bond because of the seriousness of the case. And because both defendants had failed to appear for court hearings in the past.
We also learned this all began after Parker and co-defendant Mario Barber got into a fight at an upscale home on Langdale Chase back in May.
Prosecutors say Barber and Brittany Baker shot Parker. “And that his head and his hands were removed, prosecutors said.
The state says Parker’s torso was dumped in the Dog River Reservoir.
Construction workers discovered it wrapped in a trash bag and a tarp as it floated for days in the area.
Prosecutors say Baker, Mario and David Barber, and Boyd then cleaned up the scene and tried to hide what happened. The state says they disposed of Parker’s body parts in an unknown location.
Parker’s father has learned a lot about what happened to his son in this hearing. But says he still has many questions.
“What made them do it? They’re not saying anything,” Parker said.
Baker, the two Barbers, Boyd and Jacob Wilson, are all being held without bond in this case.
A 6th man also faces charges but is not in custody. All in custody have entered not guilty pleas.
Detectives say their investigation continues.
