DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — An argument over a man's dog led to a deadly shooting outside of a DeKalb County apartment complex.
Police identified the victim as 28-year-old Jordan McPherson Tuesday morning.
Neighbors told Channel 2’s Matt Johnson that they are baffled by the whole thing.
“It's sad these days. It's really, really sad,” neighbor Bear Millner said. “Over a dog? C’mon now. You lose your life over a dog? Look at this, it’s not worth it.”
“It’s not an excuse for murder. Any excuse is unacceptable,” said a neighbor who asked to go by Will G.
DeKalb County Police say someone shot and killed McPherson at the Park at Hairston Apartments Monday afternoon.

It was around 3 p.m. when police say the killer opened fire on a man in his late 20s during a dispute over the victim's dog.
An aerial photo shows how investigators appear to have focused on the front of the complex near the mailboxes.
Johnson said police remained at the scene throughout the night while the killer is on the run.
“They’re getting killed over nonsense,” Will G. said.
Homicides in DeKalb County have already increased at a record rate in 2019.
County residents say they struggle to make sense of this murder and the more than 100 others reported this year.
“Nobody deserves to die, at all. Blacks, whites. Don’t nobody deserve to do, especially over some stupid gunplay,” Millner said.
Police have not released a description of the shooter or shooters.
Anyone with information is urged to call DeKalb County Police at 678-406-7929.
