DeKalb County woman kidnapped, robbed and raped

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Dekalb County police are searching for the man who kidnapped a woman from the Lavista apartment complex, then robbed and raped her.

A composite sketch of the man police are looking for has been released, and apartment management is speaking about coming security improvements.

The 27-year-old victim told Channel 2's Matt Belanger the man grabbed her as she got out of her car early Sunday morning.

"He pulled out a gun from here and pointed it to my head and told me to give him all my money," the victim said.

She said the attacker kidnapped her and drove her to an empty parking lot.

"He raped me, he forced himself on me and held a gun to me the whole time," the victim said.

The victim said her attacker likely slid under the gate to the parking deck after following her home from a gas station.

Apartment resident Kenny Burton says he's looking over his shoulder more when he parks in the parking deck.

"I have a small daughter, so I'm just being more vigilant now," Burton said. "Getting out of my car and making sure if anybody is around."

An apartment management says new cameras are being installed.

Channel 2 Action News employee Renee Lavine lives in the building. She told management the drop arm at the security gate has been out for a week.

"It was very frightening when I found out this happened. Oh my gosh. This could have been me," Lavine said.

DeKalb police are examining surveillance video of the assailant.
