Brookhaven continues to progress on new City Hall

BROOKHAVEN, Ga — Brookhaven’s new City Hall is making progress new City Hall building with recent design progress presented at the March 28 City Council work session.

The work session recognized the 50% design development benchmark, according to a news release.

In the presentation, the Mayor and Council received updates on the public feedback to date.

“The feedback has been crucial as we move forward with the design. This building will be the ‘People’s House’ and should reflect the vision of the community as a whole,” Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst said.

During the work session, Brookhaven Residents rated spaces that encouraged community interaction such as outdoor patio dining and pop-up markets.

Public input regarding the new City Hall began shortly after the historic agreement with MARTA in June 2022. Since then, the community has provided public input to the Mayor and Council at council meetings.

Brookhaven’s new City Hall will be located at the corner of Peachtree Road and North Druid Hills Road on the existing long-term MARTA parking lot.

The city said it was important to have the Brookhaven City Hall close to mass transit and major mobility corridors to encourage access for all.

The current design includes an atrium and an event space that totals approximately 6,000 square feet for community gatherings and rentals.

The city said that 62% of the building is dedicated to public space, which will include a multipurpose hall, rooftop garden, coffee shop and kitchen, a rooftop terrace for public events that features views of Brookhaven, Buckhead, and Stone Mountain.

“We are taking an urban site and giving it back to the public,” Project Architect Bill De St. Aubin of Sizemore Group said.
