David Mack was a typical 7th grade student who loved to hang out with his friends. But his life was tragically cut short last month.

On Feb. 9, he told his grandmother he was going to play football and never came back. The next day, his family found his body in the woods along the banks of a creek near Shirley Street in southwest Atlanta.

There were no witnesses or motives.

Investigators said the killer didn’t leave a trace of evidence.

“It’s hard knowing there is a killer out there and there’s no evidence out there at the moment,” said Mack’s uncle, Wesley Allen.

Atlanta police got together with the family and spent hours going door to door passing out flyers, looking for any information to help find the boy’s killer.

“Makes me feel good to see all these people out here,” Glenda Mack said.

Even the police chief joined the search.

“This is so troubling that we’re out here for a 12-year-old. But assure the family, this community and this city that city of Atlanta Police Department will continue to work very diligently until we get some resolve,” said Atlanta Police Chief Rodney Bryant.

Crime Stoppers Atlanta is offering $10,000 for the capture and conviction of 12-year-old David Mack’s killer. Keep in mind, you don’t have to give your name everything about you is kept secret.
