COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County police are searching for two men accused of a violent home invasion in Vinings on Tuesday morning.
Channel 2's Ross Cavitt at the scene said a man in his 20s was sleeping inside his mother's home on Vining Oak Drive when two men broke in, one armed with a crowbar, the other with a handgun.
According to neighbors, the victim was tied up and beat in the head with one of the weapons. He escaped and called police.
Cavitt said police "intensely" searched the area but have not yet found the two criminals.
The victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries and was released Tuesday afternoon.
Neighbors say they are not used to crime in the area, and wonder if the home invasion stemmed from recent car break-ins.
"I think probably because the kids didn't get nothing out of the cars and came back, it seems coincidental. It was just this Sunday and now we're talking Tuesday, you know," Wendy Harrison said.
Police are still searching for the home invaders.
