62-year-old man in critical condition after being hit by drunk driver, Marietta police say

MARIETTA, Ga. — A man is in the hospital in critical condition after being hit by a drunk driver Saturday.

Marietta police said officers received reports of a crash on Saturday at 8:25 a.m. on Cobb Parkway just north of Frey’s Gin Road.

According to the investigation, 62-year-old Reginald Williams of Austell was driving his 2016 Chevrolet Impala northbound on Cobb Parkway.

At the same time, officers said 24-year-old Michaela Hudson of Stockbridge was driving her 2020 Hyundai Elantra northbound on Cobb Parkway at a high rate of speed.

Officials said Hudson rear-ended Williams’ car, causing it to spin out of control and leave the roadway violently.

Williams was taken to WellStar Kennestone Region Medical Center with serious injuries.

Hudson was not injured and declined to receive medical treatment at the scene.

Officers arrested Hudson and charged her with driving under the influence, serious injury by vehicle and other traffic-related charges. She was booked in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

The investigation remains ongoing.
