Dogs to be euthanized if not adopted by Friday at Clayton Co. Animal Control

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Dogs that were set to be killed by Wednesday, May 17 in Clayton County, now have a few extra days to get rescued.

Clayton County Animal Control extended the deadline for them to be euthanized due to overcrowding at the facility.

At last check, there were 17 dogs who still need a home.

Officials say they must be adopted by noon on Friday or they will have no choice but to put them down.

According to Clayton County regulations, any dog in the facility over 21 days is clear to be euthanized at Animal Control’s discretion.

Some of the dogs available have been at the facility for over 40 days.

Animals can be adopted at either Animal Control headquarters at 1396 Government Circle in Jonesboro or at the Animal Control Adoption Center at 3199 Anvil Block Road in Ellenwood.

Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
