Your water could turn brown this time of year, here’s why and what you should do about it

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga — Across Cherokee County, every fire hydrant will soon be inspected and tested.

It’s something that happens every year to ensure the hydrants are ready when firefighters need them.

The process can cause sediment in the pipes to get stirred up.

This means you may have some discolored or even brown water at your house.

Letting the cold water run for a few minutes should clear it up.

Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services said you should move obstructions and maintain a 3-foot clear space around hydrants.
