Car crashes into Athens Chick-fil-A

ATHENS, Ga. — A Chick-fil-A suffered major damage after a car crashed into it in Athens.

A viewer sent Channel 2 Action News the photo of the car in the middle of the restaurant.

The location is on Alps Road.

The Athens-Clarke County police said an officer first spotted the suspicious vehicle driving on Broad Street around 4 a.m. When the Ford Fusion's tag was run, it came back as stolen.

The officer tried to stop the car, but the driver sped off and the officer lost contact.

Another officer ahead of the stolen car tried to put down "stop sticks," but police said the car drove around them and then the driver lost control and crashed into the restaurant.

Two juveniles in the car were detained.

No one was seriously injured in the crash.
