GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga.,None — A dead teen was found in a subdivision in unincorporated Lawrenceville on Monday night. Police are looking for a shooter.
The body was found between two trees in the yard of a home in the Ridgeview Park subdivision on Simonton Ridge Trail after neighbors reported hearing gunfire. Gwinnett County police said the shooting happened around 11:30 p.m.
Channel 2 Action News was at the scene, where crime scene tape surrounded the home and officers canvassed the area. Six hours into the investigation, police were still searching for a gunman.
“I've been speaking to witnesses, working on the investigation, preliminary stages right now,” Gwinnett police Cpl. Jennifer Roberts said.
Officers said they found six people with the body, but their stories were conflicting. The victim was later identified as 18-year-old Jose De manuel Alfaro. He was a Lawrenceville resident but did not live in the neighborhood where the shooting happened.
Police said they have strong leads.
