Best Buy to nix 2 local stores

ATLANTA — Best Buy officials have announced plans to close two Atlanta-area stores.

The Best Buy location in Fayetteville, at 128 Pavilion Parkway, and in Loganville, at 4014 Atlanta Highway, will permanently close May 12.  Both stores are closed Saturday, but will reopen Sunday for final sales, officials said.

“Employees of both of these stores have been notified this morning of the decision. We will be working to help these employees find other positions inside Best Buy,” spokesperson Kelly Groehler said. “If they don’t find new positions, or if they choose not to work at a different location, a transition including severance packages will be available.”

Fayetteville and Loganville are among 50 locations slated to shut down over the next year as part of Best Buy’s transformation plan.

Best Buy has 30 other retail store locations in the Atlanta area – 22 big boxes and eight standalone Best Buy Mobile stores.
